Inner Wheel Club of Milford Haven strawberry afternoon tea
On Saturday 15th June, Inner Wheel Club of Milford Haven held a strawberry afternoon tea in aid of SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) and other local charities. SSAFA provides valuable emotional support for service personnel and their families after they have left the forces. Sir Dennis Parker KBE CBE OBE DCM spoke about the charity and their work.
Captain Mike Peake gave a fascinating and humorous talk about the history of Milford Haven Waterway and the event was attended by the Mayor of Milford Haven, the Deputy Mayor and Brenda Scourfield, Inner Wheel District 15 Chairman. The event raised £420.10.
Inner Wheel is one of the largest international women’s voluntary service organisations in the world.
We have over 9,000 members in Great Britain and Ireland in over 400 Clubs and more than 120,000 members in 4,000 Inner Wheel Clubs worldwide.
Annually we raise over a million pounds for overseas and local charities and have given millions of hours of devoted service.
This year has been a very special year for Inner Wheel because we celebrated a centenary. There aren’t many charities that can say that they are still going strong 100 years later.
Inner Wheel commenced in Manchester a 100 years ago. The founder of Inner Wheel was Margarette Golding a wife of a Rotarian and the wives wanted to support their husbands, but the men would not allow the wives to join Rotary. So Margarette Golding had the foresight to start a woman’s charity to work alongside Rotary,.and that’s why the symbol and name Inner Wheel derived from because it’s the wheel inside the Rotary badge.
This year has been full of celebrations, last year a Margarette Golding yellow rose was launched at Chelsea Flower Show.
This year we had a centenary lunch in London and the Convention in Manchester in May where Inner Wheel commenced.
We meet monthly and have great fun socialising, volunteering and promoting true friendship. We support local charities and overseas. If any woman is interested in joining our wonderful organisation please contact:

Three Couples, Three Acts, Three Christmases
Three couples meet on three successive Christmases in their respective kitchens, but all is not what it seems and there’s a sting in the tail. Their changing fortunes and the strains of the festive season combined with Alan Aykbourn’s wicked wit and dark observation result in one of his funniest plays to appear on the Torch Theatre stage this February.
