Hundreds of people winged their way to sunny St Davids on 5 March, where the streets were filled with music, marching and merriment for the 2022 Dragon Parade.
Organised by Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre, the event was being held in person for the first time since 2020, with last year’s event having to be held digitally due to Covid-19.
Oriel y Parc Manager, Claire Bates said: “It was fantastic to see so many people from the local community come together to join in this cultural celebration as part of the St David’s Day festivities.
“We were delighted to have Small World Theatre’s giant red dragon puppet and Samba Doc join us to create a carnival atmosphere and would like to thank everyone that played a part in making this year’s event such a great success.”
Children from Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi VA School, Cylch Meithrin Croesgoch and Holy Name Catholic Primary School were joined by St Davids Care in the Community and many families and individuals for the stroll through the centre of Britain’s smallest city.
Local dignitaries including the Dean of St Davids Cathedral, the Very Rev Dr Sarah Rowland Jones and the Mayor of St Davids Cllr Alan York also joined in the procession.
Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre in St Davids is owned and managed by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, working in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales.
