Jerry Evans is the man who bought the old Haverfordwest post office and helped turn it into the marvellous community centre it is today - Haverhub. Jerry is also responsible for the creation of Dark Street Studios in what was the much missed Swales Music Centre, next door to the Pure West Radio HQ.
Jerry is a man of many talents because he is also a musician himself, having made his radio debut on the John Peel Show in 1980.
Now he’s back making music and has released an album with his new band, The Great Recycle, called, er, The Great Recycle.
The record contains 12 tracks, mostly penned by Jerry, dealing with, of course, themes of love won and lost plus themes close to his heart of environmental and ecological concern. (Which probably should be close to ours too.) The musical styles encompass power pop, rock, even ethereal psyche! It is a fine body of work.
Jerry is responsible for guitars, vocals and keyboards. He’s joined by Tom Loffman on guitars, backing vocals, guitar, organ and “other stuff” plus Verity Tedburn’s Tree Top Choir. Some of the album was recorded at Dark Street Studios.
The album artwork is by Haverfordwest artist Richard Blacklaw-Jones who constructs his work from recycled materials found on local beaches and elsewhere.
