Haverfordwest Soroptimists raise vital funds for Pembrokeshire’s Hospice at Home service
--
On Sunday 16th July, Julia Brady, President of the Haverfordwest Soroptimists and Soroptimists committee, organised a Sunday Lunch which was held at the Pavilion, at Pembrokeshire County Showground. The event was arranged to raise vital funds for Pembrokeshire’s ONLY Hospice at Home charity, Paul Sartori Foundation.
Over 130 guests attended the Sunday Lunch, which had a very successful raffle and auction compared by Brian Harries. Whilst the guests enjoyed the 2-course lunch laid on by Ben Gobi from The Box, they enjoyed music performed by the newly established Paul Sartori Community Choir, who are led by Choir Master, Mark Heron.
The successful event raised in excess of £5000.00 for Paul Sartori Foundation, which included a generous donation from one of the attendees. This amount was also very kindly matched with £1000 by Barclays, in Haverfordwest. Guests were also entertained by Ian Gravell, who talked about his inspirational book, Loose Gravel: Broken Bones, Broken Dreams Made Good on a Broken Road. His book explains about his heroic recovery, the people, events, and music that inspired him to battle the injuries from a horrific road accident.
Sandra Dade, Paul Sartori Charity Manager said “The hard work of Julia and the Haverfordwest Soroptimists Committee truly paid off, providing guest with a fun packed afternoon. We were over the moon with the amount raised and thank the Haverfordwest Soroptimists, local businesses who donated prizes, and all involved in such a special event and raising a phenomenal amount of funds. Special thanks goes to guests who supported the event and gave so generously.”
Paul Sartori Hospice at Home provides a range of services to Pembrokeshire people living in the final stages of a life-limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.
The services provided by the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home enable people in the later stages of any life-limiting illness to be cared for and to die at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear, if that is their wish.
All of the services are free of charge and are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, thanks to the generosity of the Pembrokeshire Community.
