Billy Cole is a legendary figure on the Pembrokeshire music scene. As a singer and guitarist he has been performing in the Shire since the early 1960s with bands such as The Tremolos and Firewater though he is perhaps best known as a member of the late Lloyd Coles’ Country band, Black Gold.
He is still playing today, solo, especially in the Tenby area in hotels, churches, and retirement homes.
But Billy is not ready yet to retire. He’s recently released a 26 track CD, called On To The Past, of his favourite Pop and Country songs, recorded at Nick Swannell’s Studio 49 in Narberth.
All the tracks featured this week are taken from that album and are covers of songs by Herman's Hermits, The Tremeloes, Cliff Richard, The Everly Brothers, and Bill Monroe. They show that Billy is still in fine voice.
