Free sport sessions in Haverfordwest for children aged 5-7
--
Free weekly multi-sport sessions for children aged between five and seven are being offered in Haverfordwest from Thursday 8th June to Thursday 13th July.
Run by Sport Pembrokeshire, the multi-sport sessions give children a chance to try a wide variety of sports, from football and tennis to golf, gymnastics, wheelchair basketball, soft darts and more!
Some of the many positive comments from parents whose children have participated include: ‘My daughter has really enjoyed herself and now enrolled in dance, gymnastics and swimming. Thank you for all the opportunities that you have made possible’ and ‘I just wanted to thank you for the multi-sport club. My son absolutely loves it and has a really good time.”
The sessions are held during term time at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village at Haverfordwest High VC School on Thursdays between 4.15pm and 5pm.
They are run by staff from Sport Pembrokeshire and Young Ambassadors from HHVCS.
Local sports clubs have also participated, running taster sessions and giving information on how to join.
The clubs have included Haverfordwest Golf Club, Haverfordwest Rugby Club, Prendergast Villa Football Club, Haverfordwest Tennis Club and Haverfordwest Gymnastics Club.
Daniel Bellis from Sport Pembrokeshire said lots of children had gone on to join different clubs. “The multi-sport sessions are a great way for children to try plenty of different activities, see which ones they enjoy, and develop confidence,” he said.
Comments from parents have included: ‘Really sorry my son won’t be coming to multi-sports for a while, he has enrolled on free golf sessions. I never would have thought he would have been into golf it’s only after the taster session with you that we found out, thank you.’
Another parent said: “My son has really loved the sessions and it gave him a lot of confidence to participate in sports and extra-curricular clubs.”
The multi-sport sessions are open to children aged five to seven in years 1 and 2 in primary school. They are also available for five-year-old children in Reception classes.
