Chloe Matharu is an accomplished singer/songwriter and harpist.
Growing up on the shores of Milford Haven she was fascinated by all the ships on the water, so much so that she qualified to become a navigator in the Merchant Navy. The 6 month on, 6 month off work pattern afforded her plenty of time on board ship to develop her musical abilities.
She is now living in Scotland, retired from the Merchant Navy, and concentrating on her musical career. The songs on her latest album, Small Voyages, are heavily influenced by her experiences at sea, such as seeing huge areas of ice for the first time or the Northern Lights, and her love of the Pembrokeshire landscape and its wildlife.
All songs this week are taken from that album, available to stream and download on Bandcamp, though she has a new record out on July 28th.
She returns to Pembrokeshire frequently and next week she's combining a visit to the shire and her family with a couple of gigs - one at the YHA in Broad Haven North on Friday 7th July and at the Old Point House in Angle at noon on Sunday 9th July.
An exclusive interview with Chloe can be heard on the podcast of the BB Skone Show, broadcast on Sunday 2nd July.
