With the completion of both the Landscape Management Plan (planting over 1.1km native hedgerow and trees along the solar park boundaries) and the Advanced Biodiversity Plan (creating habitats for local wildlife and atrisk species), Friday 3rd March 2023 marked a significant milestone in Dragon’s decarbonisation journey, when The Rt. Hon Stephen Crabb officially energised the 18,500 panel, 10MW solar park constructed by Anesco Ltd.
As well as reducing Dragon’s Scope 2 CO2 emissions by c.25,00 tonnes per year, the park will also supply energy to neighbouring businesses.
Dragon was delighted to welcome Rt. Hon Stephen Crabb back to Dragon to officially switch on the renewables park after he had broken the ground on Friday 17th June 2022.
Dragon Managing Director, Simon Ames, shared “Today is a significant milestone and the result of a highly motivated team achieving this important project safely. We are delighted to be sharing this moment with valued stakeholders.
Working with industry partners, educational institutes, and governmental
bodies we are committed to not only playing our part in achieving net zero but continuing to develop local skills and employment opportunities in South Wales for many decades to come”.
Hildagarde McCarville, Anesco CEO, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Dragon LNG on this project and to support the successful first steps of the terminal’s transition to renewable energy. The project has
received a fantastic response from the local community, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to further support Dragon with its net zero ambitions.”
Stephen Crabb MP said, “I am delighted to join Dragon LNG to celebrate this
latest step in their decarbonisation journey. I continue to be impressed by the
dynamism of our local energy sector and the shared ambition to put Milford
Haven at the leading edge of energy infrastructure and supply. It is an
exciting time for the Haven with the development of new green energy
industries such as floating offshore wind and hydrogen, and the completion
of this solar project demonstrates Dragon LNG’s strong commitment to
achieving a low carbon future on the Haven.”
