Arron Kirwan is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who moved to west Wales from London a few years ago to work as a boat builder in a yard near Cardigan. He spends his time between there and Haverfordwest.
It was in the county town that he began attending the weekly Open Mic at Haverhub and started developing both his performance skills and his songwriting. Arron now performs solo shows, most recently appearing at The Pembroke Yeoman, also in Haverfordwest.
He has got a strong and emotive voice well suited to the songs he pens, songs which often deal in a raw and compelling fashion with his own personal struggles yet have a universal significance. Even though he acknowledges there is a much suffering in the world, ultimately his songs, like the best usually do, embody the joy to be had in life if one has a positive attitude.
He was live in session on the BB Skone Show of Sunday 26th March and these are the songs he recorded there exclusively for Pure West Radio. You can listen to the show on Catch Up where you’ll also be able to hear Arron talking about the stories behind his music.
