Jonski (aka Jon Hounsome of Haverfordwest) is one of the finest singer songwriters of his generation to come out of Pembrokeshire. He has a new CD out now.
His lyrics are imaginative, perceptive and often very funny – they get to the heart of the human spirit and are drawn from Jonski’s experience of growing up here in the Shire.
Musically his songs are both delicate and muscular and he’s aided and abetted in creating them by his long time associate Jerome Davies, of the Torch Theatre.
Jonski was formerly a member of Brother Vegetable and Leggofingers but the recordings on this album are primarily solo efforts – songs that have been released in one form or another before – and it is an amazing collection, a most suitable retrospective.
The songs can also be heard on the podcast of this week's BB Skone Show.
BB got his copy from Bertie’s Mercantile in Pembroke Dock, an emporium run by a former band mate of Jonski’s, Tessa French. Contact Jon Hounsome on Facebook to find out where to get hold of this essential album.
