George Whitfield is a busy, talented and inventive musician from Narberth whose main instruments are the accordion and keyboards and whose work encompasses a variety of genres from Electronica, through Folk to Blues and lots more.
As a session musician George's work is sprinkled all over fine recordings by Pembrokeshire musicians such as Newport's Lowri Evans, Tenby's The Lucky 12, and Narberth's Caroline Harrison (whose latest single can be heard on the podcast of BB Skone's Show of Sunday 29th October). George works closely with Nick Swannell at his Studio 49 where Caroline's song was recorded.
George also performs and records as a solo artist in his own right as well as in a number of duos - as Boxset, Bluebox, and Fiddlebox - yep, there's a theme going on here, all his bands feature the word 'box', a reference to his omnipresent and accomplished accordion work. The songs featured this week are a representative sample of his work with all these great outfits.
George's Bluebox duo, with Nick Swannell, will be next heard on the legendary Blues Trail of the Pure West Radio sponsored Tenby Blues Festival which takes place between the 9th and 12th of November. Details from tenbyblues.co.uk.
