Paul Hayes, of Llangolman, is predominantly a traditional folk singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist though his music also incorporates elements of other musical genres, including prog rock!
Paul has just released his sixth album, Life Train, recorded at his home Terrace Studio, on which he plays all the instruments himself and he has even programmed the percussion. All the songs and tunes are self-penned apart from one traditional folk song 'The Blackleg Miner'.
Life Train is the follow-up to his critically acclaimed album The Ancient Holly which was released in 2020. Paul told BB Skone that "the music is a further step in my musical development. The songs deal with some serious issues as well as some lighter topics".
The album is a marvellous collection of tunes and songs - warm, emotional, and rather quirky - showcasing Paul's instrumental virtuosity and talent for lyric writing.
All the songs featured this week are taken from Life Train, which is available to stream and download on Bandcamp or as a hard copy from Paul via his social media and from his gigs.
