Singh is the recording nom de plume of Greg Singh from Haverfordwest originally.
He is well known locally for performing with bands such as hard rockers Sour and dub-reggae exponents Brother Vegetable.
He has returned to music making in the last few years after a decade or more working in academia. His current music is very different to that which he made before, describing it on his Bandcamp page as "electronic-based, progressive, alchemical retro-futurism"! There is certainly an ethereal dream like quality to Greg's music but it also possesses a hard edge, it is almost unclassifiable - the best thing to do is just listen and get lost in his world. It is certainly an accomplished work, perhaps his best yet.
His latest release, an EP titled 'Spirit', is available online and also as a cassette, a medium that is becoming fashionable again (providing you have a thick pencil to hand!). All the tracks featured this week are taken from 'Spirit' which are written, performed and produced by Greg (though he does have co-conspirator Joshua Rumble on a couple of tracks).
It is ironic that a record by someone called Singh contains no words - though Greg is not beyond making a pun or two, for example one of the tracks is called Scylla Black (a Scylla is a type of monster!).
The magnificent artwork is by Gianluca @cardinal designs.
