North Pembrokeshire set to sparkle with autumn lantern parade
North Pembrokeshire is set to sparkle this autumn thanks to a celebratory lantern parade linking the art trails between Fishguard and Goodwick.
The event is being staged by Pembrokeshire County Council and the Small World Theatre in partnership with the On Land’s Edge Festival which takes place on September 20.
The lanterns are being designed by local school children and will form a sea of jellyfish and pyramids which will lead the way from The Parrog into Fishguard. They will be accompanied by Goodwick Brass Band.
The Small World Theatre, which is based in Cardigan, has earned itself a strong reputation for its environmental theatre work, its large puppets and its iconic lantern parades which bring communities together in both making the lanterns as well as taking part in the fantastic processions.
Established by Ann Shrosbee and Bill Hamlett over 40 years ago, the Small World Theatre began its creative journey as Dandelion Puppets in 1979, when it carried out arts and development work in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
The Fishguard and Goodwick parade will commence at 6.30 pm, to launch the official opening of both the Art Afoot art trails and the On Land's Edge Festival.
