Pembroke Dock police station is set to move from its current location to a new site on Argyle Street.
Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed the move earlier this week, stating it was part of ongoing efforts to modernise Pembrokeshire's policing structure.
The force has confirmed that the present police station is too large and too costly to run. It also contains a custody suite that is no longer used, as all arrests are now booked into Haverfordwest Police Station.
"The Police and Crime Commissioner can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police are progressing negotiations with Pembrokeshire County Council to formalise moving its current policing base in Water Street to new premises in Argyle Street," said a police statement.
"We expect the terms of this purchase to be finalised over the next few months.
"It this move is concluded successfully, then it will progress with the sale of the current police station in Water Street, Pembroke Dock, with the property then being advertised for sale on the open market."
The new station is expected to be situated in the former council customer service centre in Argyle Street.
