Pembrokeshire watch manager bids farewell to 45 years service with local fire crews
A Pembrokeshire fire fighter has bade farewell to 45 years' service with his county fire crews after retiring from his position at the Crymych Fire and Rescue Station.
Watch Manager Euros Edwards 3955 retired from service at a special ceremony to mark his 45-years of service on Tuesday evening (August 27).
"It was a very emotional night here in Crymych," commented the Crymych Fire and Rescue Station on social media."Thank you so much, for your dedication to the community. Happy retirement to you sir."
Earlier this year Euros was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2024 New Year Honours List.
He started his career with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service in 1979 when it was known as the Dyfed Fire Brigade. Eight years later he was promoted to Leading Firefighter, followed by Sub-Officer in 1988.
Throughout the past 45 years, Euros has served the communities of Pembrokeshire and has played a prominent role in maintaining high levels of availability at the Crymych Fire Station.
In 1998 he was instrumental in introducing a voluntary co-responder scheme to Crymych which was an initiative that has provided invaluable support and has saved many lives in north Pembrokeshire He also played a key role in raising over £40,000 to purchase a new vehicle for the Fire Station.
