The Milford Haven School Festive Friends strike again!
--
After the initial launch last year of the Festive Friends project, the Milford Haven School pupils who dub themselves the Festive Friends have launched their project for a second time to combat loneliness and spread Christmas cheer.
Thanks to funding from the Ascona Community Foundation, a group of pupils who call themselves Festive Friends celebrated the start of advent by returning with this wonderful project for a second year and spreading Christmas cheer by visiting Hubberston and Hakin Community Centre to provide a festive afternoon to the Stroke Survivors Group.
The community group was invited by the pupils to take part in Christmas bingo, festive quizzes and a treat or two. They hosted a wonderfully festive afternoon with the community. One young person from Milford Haven School said "it was an honour to be a part of this project and socialise with the older members of our community, their stories really interesting and they are so funny" another said "I am so happy that our school allows to to work with the community, it has given me an idea for the future that I hope I can do and give back to our community".
One attendee said "This was such a nice way to start the countdown to Christmas, I don't get out much so it was lovely to be among friends and chatting to the young people in our community" another said "it was so nice to see the young people from our community, how nice it was of them to come and do this for us, they were all very polite and really kind. The school should be very proud of them".
