At Ysgol Caer Elen we are launching an appeal to support a cause that is very close to our hearts. One of our pupils Luc from Year 10 has recently been diagnosed with cancer. It has been a challenging time for him, his family, and our entire school community. During the last few months he has been receiving treatment at the Velindre Cancer Centre and the care and support provided has been nothing short of extraordinary. We are determined to show our gratitude by raising funds which will help staff at Velindre to continue to make a difference to other individuals facing similar challenges.
To this end, we are launching a series of fundraising events aimed at raising money for Velindre to help support cancer patients across Wales. We are reaching out for sponsorship for the following events:
1. Swimathon – 4 pupils from Ysgol Caer Elen will be swimming the distance from Ysgol Caer Elen to Velindre (99 miles) during the Advent period.
2. Santa run – pupils will be completing a sponsored funrun (1-3km based on age) on the 13th of December
3. Sponsored walk – Ysgol Caer Elen staff will be completing a 10 mile night time walk on the 16th of December
4. Cyclathon pupils will be cycling the distance from Ysgol Caer Elen to Velindre Hospital and back in one day (188miles) on the 19th of December
5. School Challenges – The school will be holding several events such as sports matches and movie nights to raise funds.
At Ysgol Caer Elen we are a close-knit community, and it is during times like these that we come together to show support. We believe that with your help, we can make a meaningful contribution to Velindre and bring some joy to those facing a difficult Christmas.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and consideration. Your support will not only make a difference to the Velindre Cancer Centre but also provide a source of comfort and support to Luc and his family during this difficult time.
