Health Board issues appeal as services under significant pressure today
The local health board has said it's A&E departments are under significant pressure today, Monday 8 January.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is asking members of the public to only attend it's Emergency Departments if someone has a life-threatening illness such as:
• Severe breathing difficulties • Severe pain or bleeding • Chest pain or a suspected stroke • Serious trauma injuries (eg. from a car crash)
For a less-serious injury, members of the public can visit one of the minor injury units who can treat adults and children over the age of 12 months for injuries such as:
• Minor burns or scalds • Insect bites • Minor limb, head, or face injuries • Foreign bodies in the nose or ear
If you are unwell and unsure what to do, you can visit the online symptom checker: https://111.wales.nhs.uk/SelfAssessments or call NHS 111 if you are unsure what help you need.
For urgent mental health support please call 111 and select option 2. For advice and support from a mental health professional 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Details for minor injury or walk-in services at the main acute hospitals are available by clicking here.
Many community pharmacies can also provide walk-in, common ailment or triage and treat services without an appointment. Click here for details.
