Mid and West Wales Senedd Member Eluned Morgan MS recently explored the inspiring potential of the newly opened Pentre Ifan Centre, hosted by Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s Chief Executive Sian Lewis. Nestled in the heart of West Wales, this state-of-the-art facility promises enriching experiences for young people, emphasising both sustainable living and well-being.
Backed by Welsh Labour Government funding, Pentre Ifan boasts facilities designed to spark imaginations and foster growth, all while promoting responsible environmental practices. Modern classrooms powered by renewable energy and creative studios built with recycled materials showcase the centre's commitment to eco-friendly design.
Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s CEO Sian Lewis passionately shared the centre's vision, which underscores immersive learning, stimulating extracurricular activities, and a strong sense of community, all interwoven with environmental awareness and personal well-being.
Ms. Morgan was particularly impressed by the unique blend of learning and relaxation offered. Visitors can participate in activities like bushcraft, sustainable fashion workshops, yoga and mindfulness, stargazing, and even growing their own food in the on-site herb garden. Glamping accommodation, catering facilities, and an outdoor kitchen further enhance the immersive experience, fostering a genuine connection with nature.
"I am truly excited about the potential of Pentre Ifan," stated Ms. Morgan. "This exceptional facility provides countless opportunities for children and young people to learn, explore, and grow in a stimulating and supportive environment. It embodies the Welsh Labour Government's commitment to a sustainable future and serves as a valuable asset to West Wales, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless young people."
The official opening of Pentre Ifan took place in September 2023, launched by Climate Change Minister Julie James and Education Minister Jeremy Miles.
