Force for nature mini-grant scheme welcomes new applications
A popular mini-grant scheme, which aims to support positive conservation and environmental actions within and around the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, is open to applications once more.
Set up in 2021 by the Pembrokeshire Coast Charitable Trust, the Force for Nature mini-grant scheme offers grants of up to £4,000 to projects in the local community that either support biodiversity, create new green spaces, or deliver on conservation or climate change.
In the last round of funding, grants were received by Pembrokeshire College, Stepaside CP School, Llawhaden Community Council, Dinas Wellbeing Hub, Simpson Cross Activities Group, Tabernacle United Reformed Church in Pembroke, and Warren-based Esteam
Examples of projects the fund can support include: wildflower meadow creation on small areas of common and public land, increasing pollinator habitats, tree planting, creating hedgerows, planting fruit trees and pond creation.
Applications can be made by not-for-profit organisations and businesses in Pembrokeshire who have a bank account in the name of the organisation, including charities, constituted voluntary groups, community councils, schools, sports clubs and associations. Businesses are also welcome to apply, but must be able to demonstrate a public benefit to their project proposal.
Priority will be given to applications coming from the following community and town council areas: Boncath, Cilgerran, Clydau, Cwm Gwaun, Moylegrove, Pembroke, Stackpole and Castlemartin, Hundleton, Angle, Newport, Fishguard and Goodwick, Crymych, Eglwyswrw, and Nevern.
Katie Macro, Director of the Pembrokeshire Coast Charitable Trust, said, "The Force for Nature mini-grant scheme exemplifies our commitment to empowering local communities to take meaningful actions for conservation and environmental sustainability. We are thrilled to see the incredible impact of these projects and look forward to supporting more initiatives that protect and enhance the natural beauty of Pembrokeshire."
The submissions deadline for this round of funding is Sunday 1 September, and decisions will be made within four weeks of the application deadline.
The project must be completed by 28 February 2025, and no match funding is required. Interested parties can access the application form, available in Welsh and English, and submit it via email to support@pembrokeshirecoasttrust.wales.
Funding for the grant has come from Local Places for Nature Fund (administered by WCVA) with support from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority as well as the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Trust fundraising.
