Haverfordwest police are investigating what has been described as ‘a serious instance of wildlife crime’ after a swan was found bludgeoned to the ground at the Withybush Woods, Haverfordwest.
The attack was made at approximately 7.45 pm on Sunday, July 28.
The Rural Crime Team has confirmed that the swan was hit repeatedly with a stick before being abandoned.
The bird was recovered from the scene and is currently undergoing welfare checks before commencing necessary rescue support and veterinary care.
Dyfed-Powys Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact the Dyfed-Powys wildlife crimes officer on 101, quoting reference 20240728-373.
