Tenby’s new town crier, Erin Morgan, put her ‘oyez’ talents to great use this week when she declared the town’s new Weird Fish clothing store well and truly open.
The seventeen-year-old carried out the ceremony last Saturday.
Erin, who is the daughter of Tenby town mayor Cllr Dai Morgan, was officially appointed Tenby’s first female town crier in June and became the youngest person to take on the role.
The post had remained vacant since 2022 when the previous town crier, John ‘Yobbler’ Thomas, stepped down after more than 30 years in service.
Erin said it has been ‘amazing’ to step into the role and perform alongside her father at the town’s official proclamations and civic functions. She is hopeful that her position will now help to inspire other young people to take an active role in community events.
Erin is a student at Pembrokeshire College and is also a young leader at the Tenby Girl Guides.
