Pure West Radio names the VC Gallery as its Charity of the Year 2024
Pure West Radio names the VC Gallery as its Charity of the Year 2024 -- Pembrokeshire’s only dedicated local radio station - Pure West Radio - has announced it is partnering with the fabulousThe VC Gallery, naming it as PWR’s charity of the year for 2024.
The VC Gallery is a registered charity based in Haverfordwest and Pembroke Dock that helps service veterans and those in the wider community by getting them engaged in a variety of art and other projects.
“Named the VC Gallery - because of its focus on Veterans AND the local Community, the charity firmly aligns with the values of PWR,” said station manager Toby Ellis.
“Pure West Radio is firmly rooted in the community of Pembrokeshire, reporting and promoting everything that is good about this county of ours. PWR is the only commercial radio station based in Pembrokeshire and we believe it is vital for organisations to support our community in positive, proactive ways - just as the VC Gallery does every day.”
The team at the VC Gallery - led by the inspirational Barry John MBE - passionately believes that art and culture can improve health, wellbeing, and overall quality of life. Barry was motivated to set up the organisation after his 24 years of service in the Army. With his artistic background and his involvement in mental health work, he realised the need in the community for his expertise and experiences. Now the VC Gallery is working with veterans, older people, children, and anyone who feels they need time out to socialise and express themselves through art and other community projects. The partnership between the VC Gallery and PWR will be supported by a range of charitable activities throughout the year, hosted by the award-winning Pure West Radio team, which broadcasts an exciting mix of programmes and live events across the airwaves of Pembrokeshire.
And the relationship won’t end there; Pure West Radio, which recently celebrated its sixth anniversary working with and promoting the Pembrokeshire community and local businesses, is still supporting its previous Charities of the Year - The Sandy Bear Trust; the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home; Patch and the DPJ Foundation.
“We are beyond pleased to be adding the VC Gallery to our ‘charity family,” said Toby Ellis. “All of us at Pure West Radio are passionate about bringing the Pembrokeshire community together - and working with the VC Gallery will help us reach out to and support local people who sometimes feel marginalised and isolated, due to their mental health issues - which can only be a positive thing.”
Pure West Radio, is based in Haverfordwest and covers the whole of Pembrokeshire and beyond its borders. - it was awarded a DAB licence last year and plans to start DAB broadcasts later this year.
The team at PWR now numbers more than 100 - with a mixture of volunteers and paid staff bringing news, sport, entertainments and information to the airwaves of Pembrokeshire and beyond.
Named the Wales Prestige Awards Radio Station of the Year, PWR is the only commercial radio station based in Pembrokeshire and offers a full broadcast service for listeners and individually-tailored commercial packages for local businesses. Contact studio@purewestradio.com for more information
