St Davids RNLI inshore lifeboat was tasked to assist a casualty who had sustained a lower back injury during a coasteering session at Abereiddy at 5:20pm on Sunday 23rd June.
The casualty sustained the injury earlier in the afternoon and had been transferred to shore by members of a coasteering company. HM Coastguard from St Davids and Fishguard were first on scene, but with a delay in arrival of an ambulance, requested the inshore lifeboat launch to provide pain relief.
Inshore lifeboat Marian and Alan Clayton launched into sea fog at 5:35pm. Our crew assessed the casualty and administered entinox until paramedics arrival at 8pm. With no further requirement for lifeboat assistance, our volunteer crew returned to station and rehoused ready for service by 9pm.
