Family raises over £2,000 for Pembrokeshire Childrens Services
--
Jessica Hall and Jake Davies have raised £2,012 for Pembrokeshire Children’s Services following the tragic loss of their baby in 2021.
Jessica and Jake’s son, Parker, passed away at eight weeks old from Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS).
Jess and Jake decided to fundraise in memory of Parker in an effort to help other families and make a difference to their local NHS charity.
Jessica said: “When our son passed away in 2021, our lives came crashing down. As new parents, we never thought this would happen to our beautiful baby boy who was born 4lb 15oz, only two weeks early.
“Jake and I decided to organise a raffle and bingo night. It took us about a year to gather a lot of donations and prizes, we emailed a lot of business to make this bingo a success.
“We would like to thank all the local business that donated prizes and vouchers, you really made an impact. Without your donations, this night wouldn’t have been a success. We would also like to thank Marks & Spencer for raising money for us, your support to us as a family didn’t go unnoticed.
“Lastly, I would like to say a massive thank you to our family who really supported us though this tough time and are still supporting us today. Our Mums, Julie and Wendy, really supported us though the difficult time, putting a roof over our heads when we couldn't face living in the house our son passed away in, thank you.
Sarah Tingle, Health Visitor Team Leader, said: “We are very grateful to Jessica and her family for their fundraising efforts in memory of Parker. This money has been used to buy new resuscitation dolls and to source extra training for staff, so that health visitors can continue to offer basic life support classes to families around the county.”
Jessica added: “It was very overwhelming and brought a tear to my eye seeing the resuscitation dolls and seeing how much of an impact they will have on the local community. It was great to see the money go to something that will help families.”
Katie Hancock, Pembrokeshire Fundraising Officer, said: “We want to say a very special thank you to Jessica and her family for their incredible fundraising effort.
“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
