Roger Ferris is a singer and guitarist from Pembroke who has rediscovered his 'mojo' post-Covid after attending the Folk Club held in Pennar Hall, Pembroke Dock, @8pm every Friday.
Roger began his musical career as a teenager when living in London - he became a singer, guitarist, and bass player in several bands, most notably with The Konrads, an outfit which featured a young saxophonist on backing vocals named David Jones - the man who went onto become the legendary David Bowie. They made one 45rpm for Decca Records, written by Roger and David, called 'Never Dreamed' - Bowie's first ever release - of which only a snippet now remains. Roger regrets losing the original acetates and master tapes which today would be worth a fortune!
Roger moved to Pembrokeshire in 1980 and it wasn't long before he immersed himself in the local scene. Over the decades he has played folk (with the Keeston Trio), jazz (with the Pig Street Trotters) and blues/rock (with Blackcat).
Roger came into the Pure West Radio studio to record a session for, and have a chat with, BB Skone - the show is available to listen to on Catch-up. He played a selection of songs from his favourite decades - the '60s and '70s - proving his voice and guitar work are as good as ever.
Roger is looking for solo gigs and is especially interested in performing charity shows. He can be contacted on studio@purewestradio.com, marking the email "FAO BB Skone".
