Royal Welsh Army Reserve renews vital partnership with Long Course Weekend Wales, Showcasing Shared Values of Determination and Resilience
The Army Reserve Infantry unit in Wales, B (Rorke’s Drift) Company, has reaffirmed its proud partnership with the Long Course Weekend (LCW) Wales, Europe’s largest multisport festival, which brings together thousands of athletes, supporters, and spectators in Pembrokeshire for a dynamic weekend of swimming, cycling, and running events.
This collaboration between the Army Reserve and LCW Wales highlights the powerful alignment of values such as determination, fitness, and resilience that both organisations deeply embody and promote.
“We’re thrilled to partner with LCW Wales,” said Captain M. Kretzschmar of B (Rorke’s Drift) Company, Army Reserve Infantry. “The event showcases many of the qualities we seek in potential recruits and current members alike: determination, fitness, focus, and a strong will to succeed.”
Through this partnership, the Army Reserve has been able to actively engage with participants and supporters, creating a unique platform to share the mission of the Army Reserve while building bridges within the community. The Army Reserve has not only found enthusiastic support but also the opportunity to demonstrate the valuable skills and qualities its members bring to both employers and the nation as a whole.
“Our involvement with LCW has allowed us to get our message out to our main target audience,” Kretzschmar added. “Those who took part were excited to connect with competitors and supporters alike, further strengthening our role and visibility in the community.”
As the only Army Reserve Infantry unit in Wales, B (Rorke’s Drift) Company looks forward to deepening its partnership with LCW Wales in the years to come, fostering mutual growth and promoting the shared values of physical endurance and mental fortitude that the event so powerfully represents.
Global Relations Manager Oliver Duckett said, “Mark, Steve and their team of incredible reservists are now an integral part of LCW Wales, and we’re extremely proud and honoured to be able to work with them to enhance both recruitment and athlete/spectator experiences. Having members of the prestigious band with us this year to start the Marathon was incredible, and we’re excited to develop this partnership over the coming years to ensure we maximise their “at event” exposure and operational experience.”
The Army Reserve extends its heartfelt thanks to LCW Wales for their continued support and looks forward to many more successful collaborations ahead.
