Get creative this winter with Carew Castle’s craft workshops
This winter, Carew Castle will be providing opportunities to escape the chill and spark some creative magic with a series of immersive craft workshops.
From the art of silversmithing to festive crafts, these workshops offer a unique opportunity to master new skills and craft beautiful, handmade treasures for the holiday season, all within the stunning historic setting of Carew Castle – which was crowned Visitor Attraction of the Year at the 2023 Croeso Awards.
A Silversmithing Workshop will take place on Friday 25 October, where participants will be invited to craft their own 925 sterling silver wrap ring or bangle under the guidance of experienced silversmith Sarah Emily Store. Perfect as a personal treat or as a gift for someone special, all jewellery created can be personalised with names, messages and designs, using a variety of stamps.
Taking place in the atmospheric Lesser Hall, this two-hour workshop blends the excitement of hands-on creativity with the Castle’s rich, storied past. With limited spaces available, early booking is advisable to secure your spot and avoid missing out.
The Silversmithing Workshop will take place between 10.30am and 12.30pm at a cost of £60 per person, which includes all tuition, materials and entry to the Castle and Mill.
Further details and booking information can be found under the Events section of Carew Castle’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/carewcastle.
For those looking to get into the festive spirit, the Christmas Needle Felting Workshop on the evening of Tuesday 5 November will guide participants through the process of creating their own beautifully crafted one-of-a-kind decorations.
Perfect for crafting enthusiasts or complete beginners, the workshop will be held in the cosy surrounds of Nest Tearoom, tucked away in Carew Castle’s Walled Garden. A selection of festive drinks and delectable cakes will be available for purchase, enhancing the seasonal atmosphere. Suitable for participants aged 12 and up, the workshop will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and booking is essential at www.carewcastle.com. Tickets cost £15 per person and are non-refundable.
The Castle will also be offering two special after-school Kids Christmas Craft Workshops, where children can create festive crafts with support from staff. Materials will be provided, and those attending will have the chance to take home their own handmade holiday decorations.
Held at Nest Tearoom in Carew Castle’s enchanting Walled Garden, this is a fantastic way for young creatives to dive headfirst into the magic of the holiday season. Those attending will also be able to indulge in a delightful selection of festive drinks and scrumptious cakes available for purchase, adding an extra layer of joy to their experience.
Suitable for children aged 4 and above, the workshops will take place on Friday 8 November and Friday 15 November between 4pm – 5pm at a cost of £6 per child. Booking is essential at www.carewcastle.com. To ensure safety and comfort, all children must be accompanied by an adult. While adults may attend free of charge, it is kindly requested that only one adult accompanies each child, as space within the tearoom is limited.
Please note that all tickets are non-refundable.
