Local Artist of the Week: CHASE VALENTIN & WILL HUGHES
Local Artist of the Week: CHASE VALENTIN & WILL HUGHES -- Chase and Will have been recording in their Fishguard home studio for several months and have produced their debut 10 track album of self-penned songs, 6 of which have been chosen to feature in this week's Local Artist of the Week slot.
Chase is an artist with a multi-disciplinary background which includes theatre and the visual arts as well as music. He has written the songs and produced them.
Will is a multi-instrumentalist who is equally at home on guitar, keyboards, and accordion. He is currently a member of Gypsy jazz band The Swinging Nettles and Ceilidh band Brig Y Don. He has played all the instruments on the album.
The result is an eclectic album which veers from pure pop and hard rock to electro disco and ballads - often in the same song! Whereas many musicians adopt the 'less is more' approach, Chase and Will believe in loading each track with everything but the proverbial kitchen sink! Chase's lyrics are confessional and personal but with a universal relevance. He is proud of the comparisons that have been made between his vocal style and that of David Bowie.
The album is being launched on Wednesday 16th October on all digital platforms and with an evening performance at Pepper's in Fishguard. Their next live show, also in Fishguard at Ffwrn, will be on Friday 1st November.
They were guests on the BB Skone Show of Sunday 13th October, which can be heard on Catch-up.
