Local Artist of the Week: CHLOE MATHARU -- Chloe Matharu (pictured) is an internationally acclaimed, award winning harpist, singer and songwriter.
Chloe grew up on the shores of Milford Haven watching the big ships sailing in and out of the waterway and harboured (no pun intended!) a desire to work on them. Her ambition was realised when she became a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy and sailed all over the world doing her job.
Recently she has given up that career for music and now plays all over the world in that new role. Chloe is returning to her home county to play at Trehale Farm, Mathry on Friday 11th October.
She has just released her second album, Sailors and Rolling Stones, and all the songs featured this week are taken from it.
Many of her songs draw on her time in the Merchant Navy - what it is like to be a woman on board ships, the importance of health and safety, and above all inspired by the wonders of the natural world as experienced at sea, from the Arctic to the Tropics, and the creatures, legendary and real, that inhabit those places.
