Local Artist of the Week: Louis O'Hara - 20/10/2024
Louis O'Hara is a young singer, songwriter, multi-instumentalist and film maker from Pembroke Dock.
After graduating from Bristol University where he studied Music Tec and Film, Louis moved to London to work in the music business. He recently returned to Pembroke Dock and is collaborating with Carmarthen's main music venue, Cwrw, to set up a recording studio and rehearsal space.
Shortly after graduating he released a film about places in Wales that were important to him and wrote the soundtrack to it also.
He has now released his first ever EP, titled Clay, which is available to stream on all the usual platforms. All four songs and tunes from it are featured on PWR this week.
Clay is a very moving collection, emotional, and sung in a relaxed and highly personal style. The music crosses many genres including quirky dream pop, alt-folk, with a hint of jazz (the clarinet is a strong presence on the EP and makes the songs so compelling). This is an amazing piece of work from one so young.
Louis is currently in the USA but will be returning to Pembrokeshire later in the year when he plans to release another EP.
