The award winning Blues Festival returns to Tenby over the weekend of 8th-10th November for three days of fabulous fun and marvellous music, music that includes Blues, of course, but also takes in Rock, Soul, Country, Folk and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Come and join a real community united by the healing power of music.
There are three ticketed venues – the De Valence, the Giltar Hotel, and Church House – hosting 20 national and international performers which include, from America, Erin Harpe & Jim Countryman playing old time acoustic on the Friday, Hamilton Loomis with a sensational stage act as befits Bo Diddley’s former guitar player on the Saturday, and the Michael Messer & Chaz Jankel band on the Sunday – Chaz Jankel is a former member of Ian Dury and The Blockheads and wrote or co-wrote many of their hits. Tickets start from only £5.
Also on Saturday and Sunday from noon until early evening around 20 other venues will host 40 or so shows on the FREE Blues Trail all over town – from fish ‘n chip shops to swanky hotels – featuring new and regular acts from near and afar playing hard rocking dance tunes, delicate acoustic songs, and down home good time numbers.
Full details, including tickets and timings, are available at tenbyblues.co.uk.
Chris Osborne, Chair of the Festival Committee, said “We’re pleased to announce that once again we’ve lined up another varied, exciting, and affordable festival for the community, We’ve also made changes to accommodate rising numbers of supporters. The Blues Trail is bigger than ever - more venues, new acts, plus regulars, all between noon and 7pm - and is still free except for a £5 fringe gig featuring Justin Light and the Midnighters. The Late Night Sessions in the Giltar Hotel are going to be hosted by the Queen of Welsh Blues, Bella Collins, and her band in a revamped jam format. And then there’s the De Valence, nine acts over three days, from the guitar shredding ‘Tommy Cooper of the Telecaster’ James Oliver to the swinging R’nB juke joint jive of Sister Suzie. Why not come along?”
Tenby Blues Festival is committed to supporting local culture and its economy. We also like wearing weird hats. We are proud to be sponsored by Pure West Radio, The Giltar Hotel, Tenby Brewing Company, and Bluestone Brewing Company.
