Ashley Rogers' memory lives on in Kilgetty 'Dash for Ash'
The name and memory of 29-year-old Ashley Rogers who was tragically killed in a road accident on the A477 Fingerpost junction in May 2023 lives on, following this year's successful 'Dash for Ash Kilgetty 5k Run.'
Over 130 runners succeeded in raising almost £5,000 for the Ashley Rogers Foundation, during the second 'Dash for Ash' event. Other fund raising successes organised by the Foundation this year include a mountain hike, which raised £1,490 .
The 2024 'Dash for Ash' once again attracted a wide cross-section of the community, including last year's winner Dan Storer, who chose to run the race whilst pushing his new born daughter in her pram, as well as many older runners who were keen to support the cause.
Winner was local Ironman hero Rhys Emanuel, while the female category was dominated by Tenby Aces' Jodie Hughes, with Allie Adams and Jamie Hutchinson in second and third places.
The newly introduced junior category displayed some great talent with a number of future athletes taking part. Winner of the junior girls was Kilgetty Girls' Football team's Emily Baker, followed by Florence Harland in second place and Hallie Griffiths coming third. Winner of the junior boys was Dexter Clement, followed by Dewi Harland ann Cobyn Phillips in third place.
Every runner who completed the run received a medal from this year's main sponsor, Pro Waste Pembs Ltd, as well as a much-needed bottle of water courtesy of Culligan UK. Pro Waste also sponsored the trophies, while the wooden plaques were carved by Kieran Machin.
Our picture shows winners Jerome Mansbridge, Jordan Asparassa, Jodie Hughes, Rhys Emanuel, Emily Baker, Jamie Hutchinson, Hallie Griffiths, Allie Adams, Florence Hartland, Dewi Harland, Cobyn Phillips and Dexter Clement.
