Rhos rejoices, as its little red box is on its way home!
Letter-writers of The Rhos are rejoicing this week following news that their sorely-missed postbox will soon be making a comeback.
The postbox mysteriously disappeared after a telegraph pole recently had to be taken down. As a result, the Rhos community was left without anywhere to post its letters, despite the fact that it was regularly used by a large number of locals.
Initially, Royal Mail stated that the post box would not be replaced, but this week, they owned up to their error.
"I have since been informed by the Collections Customer Operations Manager that an error has been made, and the postbox is, in fact going to be replaced," commented a Royal Mail spokesperson.
"Royal Mail will endeavour to install the postbox within 12 to 16 weeks but in the meantime, postmen and women delivering to addresses in Rhos village are more than happy to collect letter mail bearing the appropriate postage directly from residents. This option is always available and is especially good for any residents finding it difficult to access a postbox."
Posties, however, are not permitted to take cash from residents in order to buy stamps, nor take items to the Post Office for subsequent postage.
