Sound of leather against willow to be heard at Pembrokeshire's new non-turf cricket strip
The sound of leather against willow is to be heard at a new Pembrokeshire cricket pitch thanks to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
The application, submitted by Wendy Bradshaw, sought permission for a non-turf match pitch to be set up at the St Ishmaels Sport Club cricket field.
"The proposed scheme is considered to have a scale, mass, form and detailed design which is considered to be acceptable in this instance," stated an officer's report.
"The scheme will benefit an existing community facility by allowing extended use."
The St Ishmaels Sports Club is a well established sporting facility in the area, and the report states that the small loss of green space required for the non-turf cricket pitch will enable the facility to be further enhanced.
The permanent artificial cricket strip will be situated in the existing outfield and will enable your-round use of the area.
"This will provide multiple benefits for other users," adds the officer's report. "Overall the development will not create any detrimental impacts on the special qualities of the National Park."
The application was granted by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park earlier this week.
