St Mary's welcomes its new vicar, the Rev Dr Jonathon Wright
St Mary's Church, Fishguard, has welcomed its new vicar, the Rev Dr Jonathon Wright, who met his congregation for the first time, on Sunday morning.
Just days before, Rev Jonathon left his former home in Cockett, Swansea, after serving St Peter's and St Illtyd's churches for the past six years.
He was licensed and installed on Saturday evening by the Bishop of St Davids, the Rt Rev Dorrien Davies, and his congregation included a large cross-section of the community, including the Fishguard sea cadets and the sea scouts.
"It was a great joy to be licensed and installed here at Fishguard, and I'm so grateful to all who came along," he said.
"It was a very memorable service.
"While there are many things I will miss about Swansea, this morning's dog walk out to the fort certainly had its consolations."
Following Rev Wright's arrival, St Mary's held its first Sunday School for several years. Services take place at the church every Sunday morning at 11.15am.
