Milford Haven School’s Drama Club takes on The Wizard of Oz!
The Milford Haven School Drama Club have truly outdone themselves with this year’s annual production of The Wizard of Oz - a dazzling display of talent, dedication, and sheer theatrical magic that took place over three shows on the 8th and 9th of April.
At the heart of the production was the unwavering commitment of both staff and pupils, whose countless hours of preparation and rehearsal paid off.
The attention to detail was evident in every element, from the vibrant, whimsical set that transported us seamlessly from Kansas to the land of Oz, to the flawless technical execution by the sound and lighting crews.
Leading the charge was Darcey Trueman, who delivered an incredible performance as Dorothy. Her portrayal was both heartfelt and commanding, anchoring the entire production with grace and sincerity. Seren Hudd brought warmth and wit to the role of the Scarecrow, while Maddie Lewis shone as the Tin Man, delivering a touching performance filled with depth and charm. Eva Rees, as the Cowardly Lion, had the audience in stitches with her impeccable comedic timing and expressive delivery.
The supporting cast added further sparkle, with Clara embodying Toto with delightful energy and commitment. Ria Burton’s Wicked Witch of the West was both menacing and magnetic, offering a villain you loved to hate. Freddie Thomas brought gravitas and mystery to the role of the Wizard of Oz, and Roxy Davies lit up the stage as the ever-glorious Glinda, radiating kindness and elegance. The entire cast delivered a flawless performance.
Behind the scenes, the backstage crew worked tirelessly to ensure smooth transitions and scene changes. The sound and lighting teams enhanced every mood and moment, from the drama of the twister to the wonder of the Emerald City.
Every member of the cast and crew deserves a standing ovation for bringing this classic tale to life with such passion and polish. The MHS Drama Club has once again proven that with teamwork, dedication, and creativity, anything is possible — even following the yellow brick road to greatness. Bravo!
