Vision Theatre Company Brings Nostalgia to Milford Haven with "Abigail's Party"
Vision Theatre Company is delighted to announce their upcoming production of Mike Leigh's timeless comedy-drama "Abigail's Party," which will be performed at the Boulevard Theatre, Milford Haven from 10th to 12th April 2025.
This biting satire of 1970s British suburbia invites audiences to step back into an era of cheese and pineapple hedgehogs, Demis Roussos on the turntable, and Blue Nun wine flowing freely. The production faithfully recreates the distinctive aesthetics of a time when the average house cost just £13,000, a pint of beer was 32p, and a loaf of bread could be purchased for 20p.
The company has assembled an exceptional cast to bring Leigh's razor-sharp observations of social awkwardness and middle-class aspirations to life. Beverly's infamous drinks party— where everything that could go wrong, does go wrong—promises to deliver both hilarity and excruciating discomfort in equal measure.
Drew Baker, Creative Director of Vision Theatre Company, expressed his enthusiasm for the production: "We're absolutely thrilled to bring 'Abigail's Party' to the Boulevard Theatre. This play captures a specific moment in British cultural history while remaining startlingly relevant. The characters' social climbing, their anxieties, and their desperate attempts to impress one another still resonate powerfully today. Our cast has embraced the challenge of performing these wonderfully flawed characters with remarkable skill and sensitivity."
Audiences can expect a nostalgic journey accompanied by the iconic soundtrack of the era, featuring hits from Donna Summer, David Bowie, and of course, Demis Roussos.
Tickets for "Abigail's Party" are available now from the Boulevard Theatre website at www.boulevard-theatre.com. Booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment for this limited three-night run.
