Step into the world of outlaws and adventure at Carew Castle with the new Robin Hood Treasure Trail running from Saturday 15 February to Sunday 2 March. Armed with a smartphone, young explorers will need to locate hidden keys before the Sheriff of Nottingham gets to them – and success comes with a reward.
For those ready to take up arms, Maid Marian’sCrew is enlisting brave souls to try their hand at sword fighting, archery, and wilderness survival. Free sessions take place on 16, 19, 23, and 26 February at 11am, 12 noon, and 2pm.
Visitors can also experience the Storymaster’s Quests: Castle of Adventure – an interactive family-friendly show led by best-selling immersive author Oliver McNeil and featuring the legendary voice of Tom Baker. Shows run on 24, 25, 27, and 28 February at 1pm. Tickets cost £6 per person and booking is advised.
At Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, Experience the Iron Age sessions (10am-3pm) will offer visitors the chance to journey back over 2,000 years and immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, and skills of the past. Taking place from Wednesday 19 February to Sunday 2 March, these sessions will feature skilled craftspeople demonstrating ancient techniques, along with opportunities to try traditional crafts and gain hands-on experience of Iron Age skills. Those feeling adventurous can test their aim with a slingshot, while daily guided tours at noon will provide a deeper insight into the fascinating world of the Celts.
As Oriel y Parc’s spectacular St David’s Day Dragon Parade draws near, the flame of creativity will burn brightly at the National Park Discovery Centre with a range of dragon-themed activities. In the lead up to celebrations, visitors can follow the journey of a baby dragon as it embarks on an adventure around Britain’s smallest city, with updates shared regularly on the Oriel y Parc Facebook page.
For those eager to join the hunt, the Quest for the Lost Baby Dragon will take place from Saturday 22 February to Sunday 2 March, inviting young sleuths to solve the mystery, uncover clues, and reunite the baby dragon with its mother.
Budding artists can also get creative with a Dragon Headdress Make & Take from Saturday 22 to Friday 28 February, while those with a spirit of adventure can chart their own course by designing a personalised treasure map on 26 February.
The celebrations will culminate in the St David’s Day Dragon Parade on 1 March at 2pm – a vibrant display of community spirit, featuring schoolchildren, local groups, and a magical dragon procession.
