Ben Lake, MP for Ceredigion Preseli, visited Fishguard to see how National Grid Electricity Distribution is reinforcing electricity supplies.
He met with local engineers who told him how the essential work would support the growing demand for electricity. They briefed him on how they were mindful of carrying out the work in a way that causes the least disruption as possible to the local community, despite the challenge of working on narrow streets.
Ben Lake MP for Ceredigion Preseli, said: “I was pleased to walk around the Fishguard reinforcement scheme with the National Grid Electricity Distribution team and to meet their local contractors. The works being done will increase the resilience of the electricity network in the town. These upgrades mean residents will be able to connect low carbon technologies, like EVs and heat pumps, and allow National Grid to restore power quicker if there are power outages.”
Andrew Davies, National Grid Electricity Distribution Head of Operations for West Wales, said: “We are carrying out essential reinforcement work in Pembroke to improve the resilience and reliability of the town’s electricity supply.
“This work will to help to meet new and future demand for electricity as we support the energy transition and drive economic growth.”
