GARETH GATES TO PERFORM AT THE BOULEVARD THEATRE IN MILFORD HAVEN
Following his sell out show earlier in April Gareth Gates is back in 2025! Don't miss out this time!
Gareth was born in Bradford, July 1984. His passion for music began at the age 8 after discovering he could sing. This love for music was kindled by his inability to speak; Gareth has suffered with a life long speech impediment. The discovery of this new form expression through music, led to Gareth becoming head chorister at Bradford Cathedral and achieving Grade 8 Piano, Guitar and Voice.
In 2002, Gareth famously became runner-up to Will Young in the UK’s first Pop Idol. Instead of disappearing into pop oblivion, he carved out a very successful career for himself; selling 5 million records, releasing 3 studio albums and having five UK number-one singles. He sold out 3 UK Arena Tours and won record of the year in 2002 with ‘Unchained Melody’, which became the second biggest selling single of the noughties.
Outside of the UK, Gareth was awarded Best International Male in 2003/04 from MTV Asia, MTV China and MTV Taiwan. And topped the charts in; Spain, Germany, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, South Africa, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
In 2009, Gareth’s career took a different path when Andrew Lloyd Webber offered him the role of Joseph in ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat’. Followed by Cameron Mackintosh inviting him to play the role of Marius in the brand new 25th Anniversary production of ‘Les Miserables’. Some of Gareth’s Theatre Credits to date are;
Joseph in ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat’ (Adelphi Theatre), Marius in ‘Les Miserables’ (UK Tour), Marius in ‘Les Miserables’ (Queens Theatre), Eddie in ‘Loserville’ (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Warner in ‘Legally Blonde’ (UK Tour), Willard in ‘Footloose’ (UK Tour), Dean in ‘Boogie Nights’ (UK Tour), Robbie in ‘Soho Cinders’ (Her Majesty’s Theatre), Squidward in ‘SpongeBob the Musical’.
2022 marked the 20th Anniversary of Pop Idol. To celebrate this, Gareth decided to write a musical about his struggle with speech. This is set to be staged in 2025 to which he’s hugely excited about.
