I am delighted to be supporting Pure West Radio as an amateur gardening guru on a volunteering basis. I have worked with Pure West Radio since 2020, firstly during the lockdown under the guise of ‘The Locked Down Gardener’ and then, as we emerged, I became known as the ‘Unlocked Gardener’, during this time regularly featuring my blogs on my good friend Jill’s ‘Lawrie’s Lifestyle show’.
As a result, I have gained oodles of experience in my own garden and am learning myself as I go along and become more experienced, and I am also totally on board with the PWR mission of providing engagement and interaction with the local people.
I have a corporate background mainly in the areas of Communications and latterly in Public Relations where a public-facing role was required in many different situations. But aside from that I am a keen gardener, former Committee Member for Haverfordwest Floral Art Society alongside writing the regular gardening blog for the local radio station. So, now that I am semi-retired, I enjoy combining my love of gardening with my community endeavours.
I very much hope my experience as an amateur gardener will be of use to other amateur gardeners, who may wish to have a little bit of a helping hand with their own gardening journeys. The name ‘The Go Lightly Gardener’ came about from being a lady of a certain age and being not as supple as I once was! Therefore ‘light’ gardening is the order of the day as I know it is for many people. Still, all the hints and tips are relevant for all.
Please feel free to contact Jill at studio@purewestradio.com if you are interested in engaging further with me and/or need extra gardening information, and I look forward to getting to know you. We are all in this gardening business together!!
