Saundersfoot Community Council were delighted to support the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot with their VE Day Afternoon Tea
Saundersfoot Community Council were delighted to support the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot with their VE Day Afternoon Tea on Friday May 9th. The Hall looked fabulous with tables being set out in a VE formation. Emma Price (Regency Hall Manager) and her team worked really hard to create this very special event and it was much appreciated by everyone who attended.
The Chair of SCC, Cllr Alec Cormack, kicked things off with a lovely welcome speech, and we all watched as the VE Day flag was proudly raised on the Saundersfoot Bowling Club flagpole — a touching start to the event.
Then it was time for the main event — afternoon tea! Guests were treated to delicious treats while being serenaded with classic wartime songs by the fantastic local choir Côr y Môr, followed later by a beautiful performance from Eva Rich.
We had the honour of meeting two incredible war veterans, Duncan Hilling and Eileen Machin. Eileen brought along a photo from her time in the ATS, which was just amazing to see. It was also great to have the local Tenby & Saundersfoot District Poppy Appeal there supporting the day.
After the tea, many guests headed over to the Bowling Club to give the game a go — a few fun 'ends' and even a spider competition! It really was the perfect way to wrap up a memorable afternoon.
“The whole afternoon went really well” said Cllr Cormack “it was a fabulous example of what can be achieved when local groups work together for the benefit of the village”.
Huge thanks to Cllr Tony Wall for capturing the day with his fantastic photos!
