Volunteers’ Week

Volunteers’ Week is a UK wide and annual festival of volunteering which takes place from1-7 June every year.
The Volunteers’ Week campaign was started in 1984, which means this year marks the 39th year of formally saying ‘thank you’ to volunteers.

Greenhill Outdoor Improvement topped off with open air gym

A year-long focus on improving the outdoor environment for the Tenby community and learners at Ysgol Greenhill culminated with the launch of a new outdoor gym.

Following on from their Pure West Radio live interview, kick starting Volunteering Week in Pembrokeshire last Thursday, Volunteering Matters (VM) staff, with current and new volunteers met this afternoon at the Haverhub Community Centre for a lively and friendly get together where cakes and refreshments were flowing.

I’m 25 and was born and bred in Pembrokeshire. I went to Greenhill School and then Pembrokeshire College. I’m a carpenter by trade and musician by choice!

1.1 million people in Wales have provided unpaid care with consequences for their health and ability to work

Polling of the general public by the seven charities supporting Carers Week found that roughly 1.1 million people in Wales have provided unpaid care or support to an older, disabled or seriously ill relative or friend.
Over a third of carers polled in Wales (35%) saw their health and wellbeing suffer as a result of caring while a fifth (21%) said it had affected their job or ability to work.

The villagers of Crymych, North Pembrokeshire are celebrating reaching their goal of £175,000 raised by the 31st May, In fact they have raised £191,000 within 8 weeks of launching their community share offer on the 1st of April. The target of £175,000 was set as the level needed to continue with their efforts to buy the Crymych Arms that has been shut for 18 month.
